We met in May 2017 and bonded immediately about our shared passion for tortilla chips, karaoke, weird videos we made with our families and our incendiary hatred of Game of Thrones.
On our second date, we went to Ross' now-defunct favorite karaoke spot, Courtside. Ross serenaded Lindsay with Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire, and Lindsay fired a warning shot at Ross with Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much.
The date ended with a dazzling duet of Weezer's Say It Ain't So, which we discovered shortly into our first date was both of our karaoke go-to's.
(At the end of the date, a very drunk couple that sat down with us asked us if we were married.)
Over the next few months, we kayaked, ate at delicious restaurants, watched Twin Peaks and Arrested Development, drank mojitos made from Ross' at-the-time-still-alive mint plant and it wasn't long before we realized we had something real and special.
On August 3, 2017, we went to Bronwyn in Union Square and then got libations at Backbar. Ross blurted to Lindsay "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" and Lindsay thankfully and graciously said yes.
Over the years we fell deeper and deeper in love as we realized that we shared a fond love for our wonderful families and friends, an unending desire to have every type of experience, and deeply-held and honored values.
In February 2020, we went on a whirlwind two-week trip to visit Ross' cousins in New Zealand, and when we returned, things were...different.
We spent the majority of quarantine working from the same dining room table. Soon we discovered that even in uncertain circumstances, we loved spending time together so much that -- as long as there were reasonable limits to Ross' monologuing about his programming work in various accents, and Lindsay's spontaneous eruptions into song -- we would never get tired of each other's company.
On August 3, 2022, Ross took Lindsay to a restaurant back at Assembly Square in Somerville, where we would go often when Lindsay lived in Winter Hill. We effortlessly ended up at the Mystic River, a place special to us, that we visited frequently for long walks, picnics and deep conversations looking over the river. We wordlessly walked to our favorite bench and Ross put on Ella Fitzgerald's The Nearness of You and asked Lindsay if she would like to dance.
We danced by the river in the moonlight, and Ross got down on one knee and asked Lindsay if she would make him the happiest man and marry him. She said yes, and we both instantly started crying and making out.
In the days since, we've planned a wedding, bought a house, and continued to have a ludicrous number of adventures together. We heartily look forward to many, many more.
